IT’S ALMOST SCHOLARSHIP SEASON!

If your student is heading off to college, check these out:

CTA 2010 Scholarship to Dependent Children of CTA Members. CTA will grant twenty-five (25) – $2000 scholarships to dependent children of CTA members. Applications are available through your Chapter President or the CTA Coordinating Council Office. Applications must contain a signature of your Chapter President. Applications are also available online at www.CTA.org. Application must be postmarked by – February 5, 2010.

CTA 2010 Scholarship to CTA Members. Five $2000 scholarships will be awarded to CTA members who enroll in upcoming Summer or Fall classes in pursuit of furthering their education. Applications must contain a signature of your Chapter President. Applications are also available online at www.CTA.org. Application must be postmarked by – February 5, 2010.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Applicants must be pursuing a teaching related career in public education and be a member of a defined ethnic minority group. This scholarship is supported by voluntary contributions from the CTA membership and corporate donors. For more details, visit www.CTA.org. Deadline is March 15th, 2010.

Cesar E. Chavez Memorial Education Award Program. The Cesar E. Chavez Memorial Education Awards Program will provide recognition for students and their teachers who demonstrate an understanding of the vision and guiding principles by which Cesar E. Chavez lived his life. A CTA member may submit up to five (5) entries. Each entry may be for an individual student or a group of no more than five (5) students. For more details, visit www.CTA.org. Applications and projects must be postmarked by January 8, 2010.

L. Gordon Bittle Memorial Scholarship. Up to three (3) $3,000 scholarships are awarded. High school grad point average should reflect at least a 3.5 unweighted average. College coursework should reflect high academic achievement. Explain any unique circumstances related to medical, physical or emotional difficulties that may have affected your grades. Applications are available online at www.CTA.org. Application must be postmarked by – February 5, 2010.

2010 Del A. Weber Scholarship for Dependent Children attending Continuation High School/Alternative Education. One (1) $5,000 scholarship is awarded. Applicant must be the dependent child of an active, retired or deceased CTA member and be claimed as dependent status on the current year’s IRS form. High school grad point average should reflect at least a 2.0 average. Applications are also available online at www.CTA.org. Application must be postmarked by – February 5, 2010.
